Amputees: 3D Printing Continues to Advance

Scientists are one step closer to being able to 3D print body parts. Using mice, researchers have had good success printing muscle tissue and implanting it. So far, the 3D printed muscle tissue has been functional and has induced nerve integration. This is promising news for soldiers, especially amputees. Someday soon, it’s possible that scientists will be able to print fully functional body parts to help treat battlefield and traumatic injuries. 3D printing could also eventually help those that need an organ transplant to survive. This is truly remarkable technology and it needs to be explored further.
