ACL Repair Advancement
ACL repair is a common ailment for not only humans but our canine companions. The traditional repair requires bone drilling, ligament graft, screws, and physical therapy.
The Mizzou BioJoint Center felt they could do better so they developed a canine model and new procedure to better integrate the ligament to bone, uses suture instead of screws, and reduces cell and tissue damage to the graft.
With 4 out of 6 canines regaining full functionality with the traditional fix and 6 of 6 with full functionality with the new suspensory method, I’d day they indeed did better. Click below to read more on this remarkable study and Dr. Jimi Cook.
